Classification of soils What is the C.O.N.E.A.T index? It is structured by the Ministery of Agriculture and fishing and the National Comission of the Study Agro Economic of the Earth (CONEAT) and determinates the actual capacity of the soils of the country, evaluated in kilos of bovine and ovine meat and kilos of wool by Hectaria of natural field, whose average is index 100. The groups CONEAT in Uruguay are not strictly cartographic units basic of the soil but constitute homogenuous areas to the scale of work useful defined by its productive capacity in terms of wool, meat bovine and ovine meat on foot. This capacity expresses for a relative index to the productive capacity media of the country it belongs the index 100. From the point of view edfologic, the production is considered as the initial capacity of the soil to produce a certain yield for hectaria per year and theorically expresses an average of the best field obtained in the soil that offers the most favourable conditions under a definite technology. What is the index of Real Value? The index of Production (IP) has been the base to calculate the index of Real Value (VR) For a pattern el IVR is determined for the IP inereased by related coefficients. The proximity of a pattern to a town (for more than 25 kms is = 0). The Values are between 0 and 600. If it faces a national route (if not is = 0) The values are from o to 30. El IVR applies to determinate the money Real Value (VR of a pattern) It is the value of the Hectárea of index 100 (Há media) in $ fixed annually by the General Direction of Catastre for the amount of Hectáreas. What is a Croquis of soils CONEAT: You can reach them in the web www.prenader.gub.uy/coneat . In the practice we can observe that several successful productive enterprises (forestal, rice cultivation, grape vines), realized on groups of soils of low to very low index CONEAT. Technological pachages, for example the direct sowing with herbicide application coming after the creation of CONEAT permit include soils with a low index to the sowing of pastures and cultivation with excellent productive results
